Five worst Opera bugs in my opinion

There is lot's of bugs I've reported and haven't been fixed + I moderate Czech Opera bug report so I meet plenty of Opera bugs everyday. Anyway I decided to create a list of five bugs worse than the others (at least in my opinion).

1. Terrible box-shadow redrawing (DSK-29255, DSK-281717)
Seriously, this is something that Opera developers really didn't make good. Not even sufficient. The only case when everything looks nice is when there is some element with with box-shadow on static page without scrollbar and :hover selector. There are some examples:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MdGtebGKbI
- http://files.myopera.com/BS-Harou/files/ob_boxShadow.html
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU61t1eWYow
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K4NEvQgsAw

2. Wrong rendering of SVG background when zoom is other then 100 (DSK-285664)
Test page: http://www.operacesky.net/bugs/files/00050a.html - try to zoom there ... there shouldn't be any "spaces" between the rectangles

3. Wrong content of "dragged transparent copy of image" after scrolling (DSK-298900)
There isn't probably much people that care about this one but I hate it. Go on any site (where you can scroll) with image(s). And try to drag some of the images. There should appear the transparent copy of the image below the cursor - that's ok. Now scroll and try ti again. What happens? There isn't the image in the transparent copy but some other part of the site.

4. Position fixed is not fully fixed
If there is some fixed element on the web page and someone scrolls with mouse wheel the element is "jumping"

5. Buttons in Flash WebCam/Mic confirmation box are not working (DSK-302717)
You can test it here: http://midomi.com

So this is in my opinion the five worst bugs in Opera. Now it's time for you to create your own list here in comments or post it to your own blog =o).

With the whole lowlighting that ignores OS settings, I will list the addressbar as a bug.

The most annoying bug for me in O11 is with mouse gestures. I cant even open a tab anymore without missing and retrying a few times. The same goes for back and forward actions. I want mouse gestures to work, so badly.

Mouse gestures should be fixed in latest snapshot :)

That is indeed good to hear. I think they rushed this release a bit.

I also have troubles when switching tabs with right click and scroll. The pop-up opens and I have to click on the tab I want to open. Whats The point of that?

I don't have problem with that, but I found another bug. The tab preview in the "tab switching window" is wrong positioned on tabs like "Downloads" or IRC

Edit: it's not happening in another Opera installation with clear profile ... interesting
Edit2: ok, it seems that it's only happening when some tab with IRC is opened

I just turned visual gestures off and then on and right click-scroll is working again.

It's not ... this still remains: http://files.myopera.com/BS-Harou/files/ob_boxShadow.html

And if you look on this properly, you will see that the bottom part is still cut a bit:

Latest snapshot seems pretty stable :) My list of bugs from O10.60 got actually pretty smaller in O11 stable. But there are still few things I'd like to see fixed.

On my OM I can tell it what I want in the settings. I believe that 3 and earlier only had the mobile view?

Except perhaps for the extra reload none of that seems to be related to Opera Mini?

I only know opera mini. Things that I currently can't abide:
. no full page view if using full page in o.m. - it still gives mini view. (unlike Bolt and Ovi browsers).
. Functionality in messaging - a 'This message has been sent' would be basic.

Etc.

SVG is still a light PITA in Opera.

My SVG pet bug is still not solved sufficiently which makes the use of repeated SVG images unpredictable - and it would be so much more fun to use them instead of some CSS3 stuff just for the optics ...

BTW: 3. goes for SVG too it looks like some sort of cached absolute position is used - the position only, but not the content ...

Looked at the others, now I really want a bug squashing release now that I am reminded of these; a whole .x; e.g. 10.8.

1. Bottom of long page is cropped.
Part of the page is missing, and depends on window mode normal/maximized.

2. Print preview, almost same problem with scroll and render.
- You can`t see full last page and scroll with mouse wheel to bottom of the page.
- Footers under page content or over it, not after.

3. Quality of Font Rendering
Mostly about Linux.

4. "Web Standards"
- Sometimes Cookies didn't save, so you have to relogin several times.
- if the column size less than word in it, the size of the column is set to the size of title(first row) and ignore length of other words in column.

5. Browser GUI
- Remove Search field from address bar, than try drag it back from appearance.
- White rectangle when you set floating panel placement.

I am using my default search engine allot. To replace one annoyance with another will not fix a bug. I don't want to go to my experimental localhost website or any other website for that matter, every time I am pushing down the middle mouse button by an accident. I wont surf without a default search engine.

I'm not that hysterical about sensitive information but some people actually are. It was just to make a point.

This is really annoying if I am working with text and have to copy/paste something from another website and I accidentally press middle mouse button outside the text field. Another example is if I am missing a link I want to open in another tab and Opera suddenly goes to Google and start searching for everything in my clipboard.

Oh yeah, agreed. That has annoyed me too.

I consider this as a security issue and should be fixed ASAP. I don't want to share everything I have in my clipboard with Google. There can be lots of sensitive info such as passwords and stuff.

3. Wrong content of "dragged transparent copy of image" after scrolling (DSK-298900)

1. They didn't even care to put this functionality in Linux. :furious: so I consider it The most annoying bug in Opera for Unix.

2. 'paste with middle mouse click' make Opera go to google and search for every word in my clipboard.

This is really annoying if I am working with text and have to copy/paste something from another website and I accidentally press middle mouse button outside the text field. Another example is if I am missing a link I want to open in another tab and Opera suddenly goes to Google and start searching for everything in my clipboard.

Besides that The most annoying bug for me must be that Opera is having a few crashes, simply out of The blue. I have 'On Demand Plugin' Turned on so it cant be flash or any other plugin that is the cause. 10.20 have to be the most successful Opera release in that matter. It didn't crash on me once.

I know the two bugs that annoy me most are only for Unix builds but it is still bugs.

2. It's not possible to scroll with middle click in frames (DSK-285664)

I hate this bug.
For live preview:http://www.eksisozluk.com/

4. The "empty start bar" bug

They said, "this bug -probably- will fix in 10.70"

2 and 3 are quite annoying, but generally speaking MDI-related bugs are the worst from my perspective at the moment.

One bug that would've been on my list is DSK-274482 (Cannot use Esc to escape out of address field in Speed Dial/blank tab), but that was fixed in build 3486/9013.

So I guess I'll go with

1. ]Open in background tabs focus order problem (MDI)

2. Enable drag = 255 opens everything in a new page rather than reusing the old one.

3. Tab focus order is lost after restart

4. The annoying useless space between windows due to some lousy semi-transparent shadow (can be fixed through skin I suppose).

5. Middle click in frames for scrolling doesn't work.
