Opera 15+ wishlist

I decided to pick 10 features which after several months of using Opera 15+ as main browser I found I miss the most. I don't include features I know Opera is already working on (e.g. bookmarks).

  1. Speed dial configuration
  2. Numbers in address bar/CTRL+number to go to speed dial's nth item
  3. Option to disable shift+enter in forms (it opens new window and it is happening to me very often when I don't want it)
  4. "Apply changes" in source code
  5. UI customization
  6. Sidebar (even just for web pages would be nice)
  7. Recently closed tabs next to minimize/restore/exit buttons + option to clear it
  8. Resuming failed downloads (there is a flag for that in opera:flags but it doesn't work very well)
  9. More compact download manager
  10. Running all extensions in the same process

Yep, I also miss the recently closed tabs (7)

I also miss the ability to disable all animations

I like the detailed & easy to ready Security info for a page, & the how it would display the details for an image when you right clicked and selected image properties

I guess that is why options are so important :) I wouldn't mind it that much if it would open just new tab instead of new window.

There was a lot of people behind the Manhattan Project. :D

Apart from joke, this is the list of WebKit contributors. Apple, Google, Nokia (now Microsoft), RIM, etc.

There are a lot of developers who agree with Google's road plan. But the Google forked WebKit, because they didn't want to cooperate with Apple and the others.

The Chromium and the Opera Presto was two different category. I'm not saying that the Chromium wouldn't be good in its own category (rendering engine + many Google-releated APIs), but the Opera Presto was an internet suite.

Thousands (actually only ~750 people work at the Opera Software, included the cleaners and receptionist and the marketing team which 130 people) smart people worked on anyhing which pay well. Because they're smart.

You wanted to say enthusiastic, but many of them are left the company.:(

I'm not talking just about Opera employees but also about people behind chromium/blink/webkit.

That is probably because I don't think that something on which thousands smart people worked on is a sh*t ;)

MDI, Panels (that I use a lot for notes, windows and hystory <- I use it as a sort of "bookmark system" for URL I need to visit only for a short time, as a blog post with comments), Tab Stack, GUI configuration (menu.ini above all)

All above are features that I need the most and that Opera will never readd in the new "thing" called Opera 15+

But also a more usable download manager (COMPACT THAT DAMNED LIST!!!!) and an hystory manager/viewer that update itself while you browse, and too much other things

I can't believe you still use as main browser that shit :eyes:
